Hmm, look who finally started and completed an online course, your #FavouriteMamaBearOfCourse (if i don't hype myself, who will😝). I have always been looking forward to the day I will start and finish an MOOC (Massive Open Online Course)💃. I decided to choose something that I really enjoy doing, paid for it and BOOM, I completed it. The course I did was SQL for data science on Coursera, you can checkout the link to the course here if you are interested (it is not free). The reason why I chose this course is because I am interested in perfecting my SQL skills and since my career is in data analysis/ business intelligence, this course matches my skills and i decided to shoot my shot and here we here today with the certificate (tears of joy😆)
The course was a four week intensive one with quizzes, assignments and a final project. In order to keep up with the assignments and deadlines, I sometimes had to wake up during the middle of the night to get things done. Overall it was a good experience for me and even though I said it here that I love SQL, I think I fell in love with SQL all over again after this course. I am still doing more MOOCs as I have now fallen in love with them. I hope to keep learning as learning never stops. However, I am just here to celebrate this little victory and pat myself on the shoulder (Wemimo, I am so proud of you)
The few things I learnt during this course were:
- The skills necessary to be a data scientist (so many articles were recommended for us to read and know more about the profession)
- The fundamentals of SQL and working with data
- How to deal with simple and complex queries
- Filtering, Sorting and Calculating with SQL
- Subqueries and Joins
- I became familiar with SQLite because that was the database engine that we used in implementing all our assignments, quizzes and project-

- Finally, we worked on a project by combining all the knowledge gained so far in the course
