Our first Day Out With Thomas was back in 2023, and if you missed that rainy day adventure, you can catch the recap here. And now, here we are again, two years later, doing it all over again with bigger kids, a bit more chill, and a fun collab with Heritage Park to top it all off. It’s amazing how fast time flies... and how these simple outings still manage to be so special.

Riding with Thomas: Take Two
We started our day with a 20-minute train ride pulled by Thomas himself. The route around Heritage Park is always such a relaxing way to kick things off, and the friendly conductors made it even better. Oh, and the kids received a Day Out With Thomas certificate again, which I still think is such a thoughtful little keepsake!

Celebration Mode: Thomas Turns 80 🎉
This year, Thomas & Friends are celebrating 80 years (how time flies, eh!), and the Celebration Station had all the themed games and activities to keep the kids busy and engaged
Beyond the train ride, there was so much to explore:
Interactive Play Areas: Mega Bloks, train tables, coloring stations, and soft play zones kept the kids busy and happy.

Face Painting & Tattoos: A fun stop for mini makeovers and themed tattoos.

Antique Midway Rides: The vintage carousel, Ferris wheel, and boat swings for all ages.

Sir Topham Hatt Meet & Greet: Enjoy some friendly waves and fun photos with the legend.

Book ahead: Tickets sell fast, and it’s better to lock in your train time early.

Arrive with time to spare: There’s lots to do before and after your ride.

Check the forecast: Calgary’s weather can be full of surprises.

It was such a joy to return for another Day Out With Thomas, this time with bigger kiddos and as part of a lovely collaboration with Heritage Park. So special. We love creating these little memory pockets as a family, and this one was no exception.
