My Bump Style

Well, I am not a fashion freak or "break the bank" to look good person, I am simply a "dress well" and "combine well" person. So don't be surprised when you see me wearing a 1 dollar top on a 2 dollar skirt 😛.

When I got pregnant, I was always scared in my first trimester to wear skinny jeans because I felt I might be squeezing the little one up so I decided to start wearing more of leggings or better still not button up my trousers. In my second trimester, the bump became big and obviously, no clothe fitted me any longer. I became so tired every morning trying to figure out what to wear for the day and how to combine things but with time I got a hang of it *yippee*💃. Now, third trimester became the hardest, nothing I mean nurrin fitted any longer😥...oh boy but I have only few months left (exactly what the words I said to myself). Will I have to start shopping for this last few months? I became really confused and sometimes sad I must confess but voila, I still tried to get a hang of combining everything and making things work out for me. I'm still learning as most of my friends said the last month of pregnancy can be really funny because the bump can grow very big but when we get to that bridge, we will cross it 😋.

I will be sharing 5 tips for pregnancy fashion. Maybe someone somewhere might find something to hold on to but I must say of course that these tips varies from country to country. E.g. I feel it would have been easier for me to get more clothes that fit in my country (Nigeria) because the weather is a bit stable and I can always sew beautiful/simple styles for myself without breaking a bank, look decent and of course be happy but as we dey Europe nko (In Europe), where the weather can be cold today or warm tomorrow😥...Well, I had to manipulate most times and try to make something work for myself.

So here are my tips:

  • Buy Leggings: I feel this is the most comfy wear for any preggy woman if you must wear something skinny or tight. It is super comfy and you can combine with any long top.

Leggings All the Way 😉
  • Don't rush to shop for Maternity Wears: I would recommend you wait till late second trimester or even the third before shopping since most of your pre pregnancy clothes will still fit in the first 18 to 20 weeks. Although our bodies differ and some might really get big from 1st trimester but if you can still rock your pre-pregnancy clothes till 18 weeks, perfect👍.

  • You might need a Maternity/Nursing Bra: This was a big one for me as my boobs became so so big, I mean really bigger than I expected. Initially I got bigger bras, later on, they didn't fit any longer and became so uncomfortable. I had to buy nursing bras which I dislike btw but saved me a lot of stress and discomfort. I would recommend only two but if you want, you can buy as many as you can. You can still combine this with your normal bra though because I dislike the maternity bra sote (so much). So what I do is that, days I will be out for only few hours, I go with my normal go - to everyday bra.
Got this image from Amazon but you can buy one at any matenity shop in your City

  • Bodycon Dresses: This should have been my number one tip but I could't start wearing them until spring because of the weather in Sweden😏. If you live in a country where the weather is not so cold, then you should invest in bodycon dresses. This is such a good buy and at the same time super comfy. You can wear this all through your pregnancy and also have zero worries about any form of discomfort. Although the only disadvantage with this is that it shows how big your bump is but c'mon, its a thing of joy so why hide it, flaunt what you have Mama Bear...*lol*

  • Free stretchy Tops: Yes👍...This will be my final tip/ recommendation as regards pregnancy fashion. I would suggest you buy free blouses and tops. Of course, it doesn't have to be maternity tops but maybe something bigger than your normal size. This will save you some pennies since you can wear them even through your pregnancy and also save you the stress of always looking for clothes that fit everyday.

These are my million dollar tips for anyone pregnant, about to get pregnant or still pregnant and looking for how to go around dressing daily. There are other clothings you might be interested in buying such as pregnancy denims/jeans, long jackets maxi dresses and also dungarees, if you find them in the malls and you can afford it, my dear go for it. I only listed my own top 5 go-to everyday tips because they were very useful for my own pregnancy.

Disclaimer: This is not a general article for all pregnant women as your country fashion, religion, weather and other things might be different from mine. But maybe 1 or 2 tips might be useful for you, your friend or a family member.

Until next time...💋
